Our sweet Keta... It's been a long rollercoaster of a week. Sometimes, it doesn't just come down to save them or not... sometimes, it's so much bigger of a decision. Keta's biopsy came back benign and whilst it's natural to want to celebrate that, it left us with this enormous moral decision. Clearly, if this was cancerous, there wouldn't be a discussion because surgery would not lead to a cure but... there is a discussion. Is it morally right to put this cat through a massive surgery that will leave her even more deformed than she is with it? Is it right to have her go through a recovery for weeks where she will need a feeding tube bc part of her jaw jaw, eye and left nasal passage will be removed? If we do this and she is miserable afterwards, what then? As you can see, there are no easy answers. Our amazing vets at Bensonhurst Veterinary Care (for her pre and post surgical care) along with microsurgeon Dr. Tomas Infernuso and Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group (for her MRI) are all on board and ready to give this a go. The surgery, aftercare and tests leading up to and after her surgery will cost us about $5-6k. We will need all the donations we can get. If you are willing and able to help us, please visit www.unwantednycpets.org. Every single dollar will help. Every single share will help. Everything you can offer will be very much appreciated! We will keep you all informed and updated as we start this process! Thank you from all of us! #rescue #rescuestory #rescuesofinstagram #nycrescue #rescuenyc #nyc #brooklynrescue #brooklyn #adopt #adoptdontshop #catsofinstagram #catsofig #deathrowsurvivor #deathrowcat #donate #keta

Keta is awake and proves, NEVER EVER GIVE UP! The wait for surgery was well worth it.... surgeon Dr. Tomas Infernuso worked his magic and we think she looks amazing! As time goes on and she begins to heal, we will get a handle on what her aftercare will entail. In the meantime, we cannot thank @BensonhurstVeterinaryCare enough for walking us through everything we will need! Thank you to everyone who donated, send their love and thoughts to our wonderful girl! Today is a good day! Now to celebrate tonight at our fundraiser! #rescue #rescuestory #rescuesofinstagram #nycrescue #rescuenyc #nyc #brooklynrescue #brooklyn #adopt #adoptdontshop #catsofinstagram #catsofig #deathrowsurvivor #deathrowcat #donate #keta

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! You probably remember KETA as she was in the lower right photo. Deformed, unable to eat or drink, thrown away and, almost, forgotten. You may know her from the upper right photo, taken during her recovery from surgery. We still didn't know how her face would end up looking but her tenacity was a miracle to watch. We received the left photo today from her mom! Can you believe it?!!! She is doing wonderfully and barely recognizable! KETA is what Unwanted is all about. Never giving up. Never quitting because things get hard. Always believing that every pet deserves the best possible life no matter what. Have a beautiful weekend and thank you all for supporting our small but mighty team. If it wasn't for you none of this would be possible. #rescuestory #happyending #rescue #rescuesofig #rescuesofinstagram #brooklyn #brooklynrescue #nyc #nycrescue #rescuenyc #florida #floridarescue #georgia #georgiarescue #untileverycageisempty #nevergiveup #catsofig #catsofinstagram #keta
